Validation by Educational Experience (VEE)

These are not prerequisites for the preliminary exams and may be fulfilled independently of the exam process. However, you must pass two SOA or CAS exams before applying to have the VEE credit added to your record. You may visit this SOA webpage to get additional information on VEEs.

* Applied Statistical Methods and Corporate Finance are no longer required VEE topics. Each has been replaced by Mathematical Statistics and Accounting & Corporate Finance, respectively. Currently no UW courses are officially eveluated to complete these two required VEE courses. We will soon update a compiled list of courses that may satisfy the requirements listed on each VEE courses' syllabi. The guidelines can be found on this SOA webpage.

Candidates who earned Applied Statistics credit prior to July 1, 2018 will receive transition credit for the complete VEE Mathematical Statistics and the Statistics for Risk Modeling Exam. Candidates who earned Corporate Finance credit prior to July 1, 2019 will receive transition credit for the complete Accounting and Finance requirement.
Economics will have minimal changes and the requirements have not changed much.

* If unable to register for a desired VEE requirement course on campus, consider utilizing the Coaching Actuaries study courses.
